Water Main Flushing

Spring Flushing:  April 9, 2022 - June 4, 2022

Where are we flushing today? Check Alerts

As part of its regular water system maintenance program, the Municipality will be flushing water mains in all Municipal water systems from April 9, 2022 for 6-8 weeks, rotating through each neighbourhood. Most areas will be flushed Monday to Friday between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm. This procedure is necessary to remove sediment that gradually deposits in pipes, and it does not pose a health hazard.

While the water is not turned off during the flushing process, temporary water interruptions may occur and your water pressure could be low for periods of time. Every effort will be made to ensure that water quality is not affected, but some turbidity and higher than normal chlorine concentrations may be present for short periods of time. Running your tap briefly should clear this up.

Residents are advised to have additional water storage for urgent use during this time.

Please check alerts or follow the BIM Facebook Page for daily updates. You may also notice signs in your neighbourhood while flushing is underway.

Please note:

  • The water mains in the areas of Snug Cove, Cates Hill, and Village Square including Bowen Island Community School (BICS) and Bowen Island Children’s Centre (BCC) will be flushed on Saturday, April 9, early in the morning so as to alleviate water interruption for BICS and BCC.
  • Artisan Square will be flushed early in the morning of April 11 & 12.
